Birthday Dresses and My First Fair Isle Project

Happy Birthday, Naomi!  Today is her 1st birthday and I made her this dress.  It's a little big, but she'll grow into it.

My mom and I made this reversible dress for her as well.

She's celebrating with a party at home today and this is her hanging out in the park a few days ago.  My parents are visiting and having fun hanging out with her for the week.

I also sent her this crochet sweater that I made a while ago.

Last week, I took a class and learned how to do fair isle knitting.  This is my first project and I really like how it turned out.  I'd like to make some mittens to match.

And, I finished some socks recently.  These are knit from yarn that is made of wool and bison.  The yarn is really sturdy and warm.

And, these are knit from one of my favorite sock yarns since I knit my first pair with this yarn as well.  It is Malabrigo and it knits and wears so beautifully.

Finished Knitting Projects

I finished a few knitting projects recently so here they are:

Socks for my dad.

A lace knit cowl, with a pattern (Magazine Street Cowl) and yarn that I purchased on the Chicago Yarn Crawl.

A mini monster by Rebecca Danger.

The empire waist baby sweater from my Vogue Knitting Live class with Susan Anderson. 

And these are so close, hopefully I will finish them up this weekend.  Then, on to my next project.

String-a-Long Monkey

Here's my little monkey from the Vogue Knitting Live class with Susan Anderson.  I think he turned out pretty cute.  The pattern also has options for a frog and a mouse.  

Vogue Knitting Live

I attended the first Vogue Knitting Live Chicago this past weekend and had a great time.  I took two classes with Susan B Anderson.  One was to learn how to knit toys and the other was a baby sweater class. I really enjoy her patterns and she is a wonderful teacher.  Above is a picture of my monkey and baby sweater that I worked on in class.  She also did a drawing and gave away yarn to people in class.  I won the yarn that is behind my monkey.  It will be great for another baby sweater.  I hope to take another class from Susan someday.  You can read more about her Vogue Knitting Live experience on her blog - and, I'm in a couple of pictures there too.  Here is a link:  http://susanbanderson.blogspot.com/2012/10/vogue-knitting-live-chicago-2012.html
