Amy Butler Madison Bag

Here is the finished project from my sewing class.  It was a lot of fun to make something new and to also try out their nice sewing machine at the shop.

Sewing Class: Part 1

Jason got me one of the greatest Groupons yet...a sewing glass at a fabric store in the suburbs.  Last weekend, I went to the first part of the class.  We are making one of the patterns from the Amy Butler Madison Bags pattern.  Here is a link to the pattern on her website:

And, here is my work from the first part of the class.  I've never made a bag like this and I'm using a Janome sewing machine at the store so I get to try out some of the new features and see what a different sewing machine is like.  Part two is this coming Saturday and I'm looking forward to it.

Midwest Fiber & Folk Art Fair

I went to the Midwest Fiber & Folk Art Fair for the first time this year.  They offer craft workshops and a market to browse and purchase supplies.  I took an Irish Crochet Primer workshop where we worked on a lacy Irish Crochet compact cover.  It's hard to see in the picture, but here is my work from the class and you can see the market behind me.  I enjoyed the class and also had a good time browsing the various booths and getting some new yarn and buttons.

Baby Projects

We're going to have a baby in our family - Congrats Jenny and Josh!  We're looking forward to being Aunt Jenee and Uncle Jason!  A new baby is great motivation to make craft projects.  Here is a small quilt I made and some matching burp cloths.  And, when we were in Michigan, my mom and I worked on a project...that's me sewing with my mom's machine.  It's not done and hasn't been delivered so this is just a sneak preview for now.

Grandmas

We went to Michigan over the 4th of July weekend and visited family and friends.  Here we are with my Grandma June (top) and my Grandma Elizabeth (bottom).  My Grandma June gave us this beautiful quilt that she made for our wedding gift.
